If elected, the Bloc Québécois plan to: 

​

• Increase health-care transfer payments made to provinces from 22% to 35% and continue to fight for more robust health care transfers to Quebec (CTV, CBC)
   

• Call for a Canadian pharmaceutical strategy to facilitate access to drugs at reduced costs (CBC)

​

The state of our mental health is connected to what’s going on in the world around us. We can be hugely affected by things like our working conditions, our ability to make rent, intergenerational trauma, or the security of our planet. 

 

Here’s an idea of where the Bloc Québécois stand on: 

​

>> Climate

​

• Meet and exceed the Paris climate agreement targets (CBC)
   

• Redirect unspent money on the Trans Mountain pipeline to renewable projects (CBC)
   

• Compel provinces that have emissions higher than the national average to pay into a “green equalization” fund to be distributed to provinces polluting less (CBC)
   

• Subject all federal policies and public contracts to a “climate test” (CBC)

 

>> Housing

• Call on Ottawa to proceed with a financial reorganization of various programs resulting from the National Housing Strategy (CTV)
   

• Call on Ottawa to devote 1% of its annual income to social, community and affordable housing (CBC) 
   

• Use surplus federal properties to develop social, community and affordable housing  (CBC)
   

• Use money from the national housing strategy to help co-ops buy buildings and convert them into affordable housing (CBC)

 

>> Labour

• Reinvigorate jobs in rural areas (CTV)
   

• Tap into Indigenous-led innovation (CTV)
   

• Propose changes to pandemic business support programs to help Quebec-specific seasonal companies such as sugar shacks and festivals (CTV)
   

• Study of the impact of bankruptcies on small and medium-sized businesses (CBC)
   

• Push for reforms to employment insurance to better support all workers, including seasonal and gig workers (CBC, CTV)

 

>> Climate Indigenous Rights

​

• Replace the Indian Act with a new set of nation-to-nation treaties (CTV)
   

• Propose for an independent entity to replace the federal government’s comprehensive land claims resolution policy (CBC)
   

• Propose more funding for the preservation of Indigenous languages, traditions, and cultures, as well as more funding for Indigenous schools (CBC)

 

>> Students

• Increase the Canada Social Transfer to provinces and territories to help pay for post-secondary education (CTV)
   

• Provide greater financing for university research (CTV)
